With the first day of spring officially past, many are ready for warmth, summertime, and fun! To help you enjoy your springtime, the Sabre's Chronicles brings you this great list of ideas to entertain yourself in the wait for summer.
Board/Card Games: Free - $15
Stuffed deep in your family’s closet, old card and board games are a staple of any household! Pull out a classic or purchase a new set (if you're up to it) and enjoy! Some great games include Monopoly, which will keep you busy for hours, Uno, a short classic (easily available at your local dollar store, and Dutch Blitz, a game created to keep you and your family/friends on high alert).
Attend local events: Free - $30
London is a bustling city with a variety of events happening everyday. Free and cheap events are being held throughout the city every week but especially during March Break. Be sure to keep up with the Instagram account @londonsprettycool to see the large variety of events held in London!
Attend Local Concerts: Free - $30
London also has a bustling music scene. Avenoir, Ian BW, and Claire Maeve are all great musicians and bands are constantly holding shows throughout London. Make sure to follow your favourite local bands and pay attention to local stages such as the Marconi Club and Rum Runners.
Go to the Mall - Free
The mall is a great place to hangout with friends, shop, and eat. It is also a great place just to walk around and meet new people with similar interests. Just walk or ride the bus to your local mall and enjoy a day of fun and laughter.
Movie Night: Free - $13
A classic night time event, movie nights are a great way to relax with those you love. There are two equally entertaining ways to enjoy movies, in theater or at home. Tickets to the theater cost around 13 dollars while at home, streaming sites and live television are both filled with amazing and unique movies. If either are unavailable to you, Tubi and Youtube are both great free apps you can use for your night in.
Skating: $10
If weather permits, skating is a great way to burn off some energy. There are many rinks around London including the Nichols arena, YMCA Bostwick, and Victoria Park. Many centers also offer skating rentals for those who do not own their own pair.
Hiking: Free
Forest city is filled with great hiking paths and locations. Take your family on a walk through Springbank park or discover some hidden gems in your community via Google Maps.
Volunteering: Free
There are a variety of volunteering opportunities throughout London. Volunteer London is a great resource you can use to browse local opportunities and find what experience best quotes your abilities.
